Definition of Dedicated Server Plans

When we talk about hosting servers, there are 3 basic types - shared hosting servers, VPS (private virtual servers) and dedicated servers. Shared web hosting servers accommodate lots of customers and hence the resources per user account are restricted, virtual private servers give you more server configuration autonomy, but also affect other VPS hosting servers on the hardware node if used imprudently, and dedicated servers give you the opportunity to carry out everything you decide without meddling with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated servers?

Dedicated servers are commonly much more high-priced than shared hosting servers or private virtual servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The answer is pretty simple. If your firm has a resource-demanding website, or just has very exact web server configuration requirements, the most sensible option would be a dedicated servers. For somebody who is ready to invest in safety and dependability, the greater price is of no concern. You get complete root-level access and can use 100 percent of the web server's resources without anyone else using these resources and intervening with your online portals.

Hardware architectures

The majority of web hosting vendors, incl. us at eGeekMD, offer several different hardware configurations you can pick from on the basis of your demands. The configurations offer different types of processors, a different amount of cores, different RAM and server disk drive sizes and different traffic quotas. You can select a web hosting CP, which is a handy user interface if you want to use the dedicated servers for website hosting purposes only and choose not to resort to a Secure Shell terminal for all the modifications you will be making. We offer 3 sorts of hosting Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The web hosting Control Panel of your choosing

If you are a self-confident Linux OS user (our web hosting servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could administer your dedicated servers through a Secure Shell console exclusively. That, however, could be awkward, especially if you want to give full root access to somebody else who has less technical knowledge than yourself. This is why having hosting CP software pre-installed is a nice idea. The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel software that we offer does not offer root access and is mostly suitable for somebody who has a lot of web portals that absorb lots of resources, but would like to manage the sites, databases and email mailboxes through a user-friendly web hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel hosting CPs, on the other hand, grant root-level access and include three access levels - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell web hosting accounts rather than utilizing the dedicated servers just for yourself, you should choose one of these two.

Web server monitoring and backup services

Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated servers and of backing it up. In the event of a predicament with your hosting server, such as a non-responsive Apache or a network outage, it is good to have some sort of monitoring platform enabled. Here at eGeekMD the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated servers too. Backups are also a bonus option - the web hosting supplier offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could choose a kind of RAID that would permit you to store the same data on two server hard drives as a precaution in the event of a disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given full root privileges deletes something unintentionally.
